The Project
The Axopar 37 Cross Cabin is one of the most distinctive boats on the water — a Finnish-designed sport boat with sharp, angular hull lines that look like nothing else at the marina. When the owner decided to transform it from factory white to full gloss black, he needed an installer who understood the unique challenges of a full-hull color change on a vessel with this level of hull complexity.
This wasn't a job for a shop dabbling in boats. The Axopar's reverse chines, aggressive bow entry, and multi-faceted hull panels demand precise panel planning and expert heat management. Every compound curve had to be covered without bridging, every edge post-heated for long-term adhesion in a salt water environment.
I traveled to the owner's boatyard in New Hampshire, set up on-site, and completed the full transformation — including custom "FOURTITUDE" lettering on both sides. The result speaks for itself: a boat that stops people in their tracks.
